Tips to Maximize Your Instagram Presence

instagram tips for stylists

Thinking about making the move to salon studios for rent? Having a private or shared suite in a luxe location improves the client experience and is an exciting step in your career. However, it’s not uncommon to have concerns about making the most of your investment. If you want to attract new clients to your salon, marketing is a must. Whether you already have an Instagram presence or you’re just getting started, there are several key features you can use to improve your outreach. Here, we share tips that many of our Indies use to connect with current and future clients.

Craft a Great Bio

When you’re curating your Instagram account, don’t underestimate the importance of your bio. The bio is the first thing potential followers see when they visit your page, so this space should serve as an introduction to your brand. When creating your bio, aim to sum up the essence of your business in just a few short sentences or bullets (plus emojis, if you like). Think of your bio as the opportunity to sum up what your business is all about.  Be sure to include any information on specialties such as blonding, balayage, curly hair, etc., as well as where you are located, so people can easily find you.

Link Your Instagram with Booking Software

Many of our Indies use Square Appointments since it’s free and easy to use with our discount on Square payments. Indies also use Gloss Genius because they offer a discount to Indies. If you’d like to streamline scheduling for your clients, consider offering appointments through Instagram. With Square Appointments or Gloss Genius, it’s easy to set up. Follow the directions here to link your appointment booking platform with Instagram to simplify the process for yourself and your clients.

Add a Contact Button

Instagram is the ideal network for showcasing your beautiful work and happy clients. It’s also a great place to connect, so be sure to add a contact button. It’s as simple as navigating to “Edit Profile”, then clicking “Contact Options” under the “Public Business Information” tab. From here, you can add multiple methods of communication, including email and phone.

Link to Your Website

Although many beauty professionals find clients through referrals, having a web presence is a must if you’re hoping to maximize your potential. Once your site is up, you can use several avenues to drive traffic to it, including Instagram. This platform is notoriously challenging to post links through, but there are several creative ways to do so. Providing the link to your website in your bio is a tried-and-true method, and you can find other options here.

When you make the move to your own salon suite, there’s no limit to what you can achieve—and placing a priority on marketing can help you expand your client base even further.  .
