As we approach the holiday season, you may be on the search for ways to benefit your community or a cause that’s near and dear to you. Including philanthropy in your business plan is possible and may even help you make connections with new clients. If you’re interested in pursuing philanthropy as part of your studio salon plan, here are some tips to help you get started:

Decide How You Want to Participate in Philanthrophy

There are many ways to participate philanthropically. For example, do you want to donate a portion of product sales or profits, or overall profits, for a period of time to a charity?  Or perhaps you’d like to collect items for a charitable cause? Would you like to raffle off a service on social media and then donate the proceeds to a charity? There are many creative ways to help others, it’s really up to you how you prefer to pay it forward.

Let Clients Have a Vote

If you’re hoping to engage clients on social media, polls are a great way to spark conversation and let visitors know that you value their input. However you’d like to participate philanthropically, it can be fun to hold a vote on your social media pages for organizations to benefit. Choose a few of your favorite non-profit organizations, or let clients chime in with their own ideas.

Make It Visible

Once you’ve chosen a recipient to donate to, don’t shy away from making your philanthropic efforts visible. Charitable giving can be an excellent way to build relationships with clients and demonstrate that your beauty business is a force for good. If you’re able to pay it forward, be sure to let others know that their patronage of your business helps others. A simple statement on your website can help boost visibility, and you can also experiment with social media posts, stories and/or ads. The holiday season is the perfect time of year to let clients know that a portion of the proceeds will benefit a charitable cause.

Go Local

It always pays to invest in your community, so if you’re not sure where to donate, start small. Whether your studio salon is in Boulder, Denver, Lone Tree or Cherry Creek, there are plenty of local non-profit organizations to consider. Whether you donate your time or make a monetary gift, these grassroots nonprofits and charities are sure to appreciate your generosity.
