Digital Detox For Beauty Pros: How to Declutter Your Online Presence

Ready to take charge of your career by becoming your own boss with a beautiful new studio salon? We’re here to cheer you on and support you every step of the way! As an Indie, there’s truly no limit to what you can achieve. Although word of mouth is still the most common way for beauty pros to find new clients, social media can play a significant role in making new connections. If your social channels could benefit from a cleanup before rebranding, no problem! Whether you’re starting new platforms from scratch or just curating, here are some ways to help you get through a digital detox

Keep Business and Personal Accounts Separate

It may sound counterintuitive to decluttering, but our number one tip for streamlining your online presence is to keep business and personal accounts separate. This isn’t to say that you can’t share business updates on your personal pages (just click the share button!), but it’s best to have business accounts so new clients can easily find you. Also, it’s just more professional–which is crucial when your goal is to appeal to high-end clientele.

Deactivate Old Accounts

You’ll need a cohesive brand image as part of your social media strategy, so it’s important to use the same handle and profile picture across each platform. If you’re rebranding, be sure to do your due diligence and deactivate old accounts. When clients search for your business, it’s confusing to come across several different options, and will make it challenging to determine which page is current. Even if you’re using a different business name now, it can bring peace of mind to wipe the slate clean and start fresh.

Be Selective About Who to Follow

You can benefit from establishing connections through social media, so it can be well worth your while to spend some time building your online presence. You’ll want to find at least a few dozen people and businesses to follow on each platform, but avoid following too many accounts (or ones that aren’t relevant). If you follow too many pages, you might miss the content that matters most to your brand. When in doubt, just stick to following accounts that you’re genuinely interested in and would like to interact with–bonus points if they’re local!

Whether you’re active on social media for your business or you’re planning on getting started, it’s important to follow a few rules of the game. The tips mentioned here will help you create a successful online presence, and you may be surprised just how effective digital interaction can be!
